Celebrating ARTS week – a look back on week 4
Last week we celebrated Arts Week, a chance to showcase creativity and come together as a school community. Students enjoyed a variety of inspiring events, including a short film creation, a lively Come Dance session with BDC, sing-along with our vocal group, Open stage band rehearsal and a Digital artwork workshop. It was a wonderful reminder of the power of the arts to bring us together, spark imagination, and celebrate talent across our school.
Congratulations to Dakota Burge for taking out the student vote for her art piece whilst the teacher vote could not be separated - congratulations to Tori Bryett and Joakim Markowski for their wonderful contribution and being selected. Matilda Chapman who’s 1 minute film impressed the judges also took out a prize. Well done to all students who participated!
Instrumental Workshop Tour
Students in the Concert Band have had a busy couple of weeks! Students travelled to Maleny State High School to rehearse as a combined Concert Band and learn a variety of repertoire – including music from Moana, How to Train your Dragon, pop tunes and more. They then took those pieces on tour to 3 of our local Primary Schools. Students at Beerwah, Landsborough and Maleny State Schools thoroughly enjoyed watching live music and learning about all the different instruments in their own Instrumental Music Programs.
In the middle of preparing for our tour, the Instrumental Music Brass students were treated to a workshop with regional brass specialist Dr Heather Aitken. The students enjoyed a morning of brass ensemble music mixed with specialised lessons on technique, equipment and more. Thank you to Dr Heather Aitken for an inspiring morning of music!

Are you keen to learn an Instrument?
If you are interested in joining any of our Instrumental Music programs, whether you’re experienced or just beginning – we want to hear from you! You have the opportunity to join our Multi-Instrumental Music program with a range of instruments or concentrate solely on Bass Guitar. See our talented music teachers for more information.

Spotlight on Curriculum
Year 9 and 10 students this term have been learning world music. Their focus this term has been on Latin music and are well on the way to playing ‘Oye Como Va’. Please come along to music night to celebrate in their success!
