Head of Department Update – Digital Technologies & Humanities

It has been a busy first half of Term 3 across Digital Technologies and Humanities classrooms. Our Year 7s have been engaging with the Game of Life as part of Economics and Business; while our Year 8 students are stepping back in time and writing diary entries in their Medieval Europe unit as well as using Minecraft Education to construct castles.

Year 9s are focussed on either History or Geography with our Economics and Business Elective in full swing as well.

For Year 10 students, they have recently made subject choices for Year 11 as part of SETPLAN processes. Please ensure that your students are on track for success so that they are able to enter Year 11 in their chosen subjects and pathway.

Our Year 12s across Legal Studies are turning focus towards preparing for their External Exam or ensuring that VET competencies are completed for QCE attainment.

Check out these photos from our Year 12 Certificate III in Business class. Students turned their baking skills into a thriving venture—selling homemade cookies as part of their project. After their first round of trading, they had already made a profit!

A huge congratulations to these young entrepreneurs for combining creativity, teamwork and business savvy to make their idea rise to the top!

Digitally connected for learning every day @ Beerwah SHS

A reminder that students are expected to bring a device for learning every day. We have a range of online learning tools which teachers are planning to use with students to enhance their learning experience. Ask your child about how they use their device in the classroom. If you are needing your child to access a Hire Device, please contact itsupport@beerwahshs.eq.edu.au Please note, that we only have a limited number of devices for hire, subject to availability and payment of Hire Fees.

If you are purchasing a device, it is strongly recommended that you refer to provide a copy of our purchasing letter to your preferred retailer to ensure that any device purchased will be compatible with the school network environment. Google Chromebooks are not compatible with the school network and should not be purchased.

Further information including device specifications to assist with purchasing can be found here:  https://beerwahshs.eq.edu.au/curriculum/bring-your-own-device

We will be communicating information to both current and future parents and carers around confirming how your will be connected for learning in 2026 shortly. Please look out for this information and provide a response as soon as possible.

If you aren’t able to commit financially to a device option for your child, please contact us to discuss your circumstances. We want to work with you to connect your child at Beerwah SHS.

Digital Teaching and Learning Strategy Reference Group – Get Involved

We are committed to strengthening Digital Teaching and Learning at our school. To guide this work, we have formed a Digital Teaching and Learning Strategy Reference Group with student, staff, parent, industry, and community representatives. Recently, a Student Focus Group shared valuable insights into their experiences with digital learning, helping shape the direction of our strategy.
